Skowhegan State Fairgrounds
Skijor Skowhegan: Northeast Equestrian Skijoring Regionals is Maine's first and one of two equestrian skijoring competitions in New England. In this team time-trial race, a horse and rider pull a snowboarder or alpine skier down a 1,000-foot track of gates and jumps. Competitors compete for cash prizes, swag, and bragging rights!
Please note - New EHV Protocols
Due to an increase in equine disease activity nationwide over the past year, we are implementing a vaccination requirement for all horses participating in this event. This policy reflects widely accepted veterinary guidance for horses residing in Maine and is intended to help safeguard the health of all horses on site. If your horse follows a routine veterinary vaccination schedule, meeting this requirement should be straightforward.
Participating horses must be vaccinated within the 12 months prior to the event for Rabies, Eastern and Western Equine Encephalitis, West Nile Virus, Tetanus, Influenza, and Rhinovirus. These immunizations are commonly grouped as a rabies plus five-way vaccine and can typically be administered in as few as two injections.
If you have not already done so, please email a copy of your horse’s vaccination records by the day of the race (February 21, 2026). Questions or concerns may be directed to riley@mainstreetskowhegan.org
